Internship Positions



Life altering experiences are available at Earthlands! Spend an amazing season outdoors in lush Massachusettes wilderness. Live in community with staff and fellow interns. Build Permaculture gardens, harvest fresh vegatables for your meals, and sell the bounty to Earthlands programs. Learn how to manage a nonprofit organization. You may find yourself transformed by the fulfilling work of supporing and developing a program center focused on ecological education, personal development and empowerment. Your connection with other staff, interns and the land may create perspectives that galvanize you to be the change you want to see in the world.

Join us for a unique opportunity to play an active role in the transformation of our organization as we expand our programs and create a plan for real ecological sustainability. As an Earthlands intern you will work independently or collectively on both assigned tasks and self-directed projects while developing an expansive skill set.


The 2008 Intern Program is designed to support the overall operation of the Earthlands Program Center while offering experience through self-directed initiatives and projects. Earthlands’ goal is to connect personal and planetary concerns in order to promote the well-being of both.



Responsibilities include:

  • Approximately 30 hours of work per week.
  • Participate in the Earthlands community
  • Work on tasks necessary for the operation of the program center.
  • Participate in planning for Earthlands future.
  • Create and follow through on projects that sychronize your interests and the opportunities available onsite.
  • Focus areas include: organic gardening; upkeep of lodge, site and out-buildings; upgrading existing facilities to have less impact; non-profit development and fundraising.


Compensation includes:
  • Budget for basic foods and access to the gardens.
  • Opportunities to participate in selected programs at discounted rates.
  • Regional educational activities
  • The experience of a lifetime.


Time Period:
  • Minimum 2 month commitment.
  • Time frame dependant upon availability.
